How the story starts.
Once upon a time, in the village of Grit, far from the nearest caravan route, trust was the coin of the realm. Pearl, and her Fae familiar Echo, watched the winds for change or chance, but, before they came to run their market, first they met in the most peculiar place . . .
On the glittering mudflats where the sea meets the sky, a gentle shorebird — the oystercatcher — almost chipped his beak while floundering for his lunch. As he wrestled with a very large oyster, his beak scraped against something hard and rough, and he pulled out a perfectly round colorless sphere.
Is it trash or treasure? Only your colors will revive it!
Which is a good word for it, as far as we're concerned — the oysters we grow are called Revival.

What is Grit?
Grit is a village of fae where reading, writing, maths and music are the magic that keeps the place alive — a story adventure for ages 5 to 12. Pearl and Echo are two of its stewards, and this book is their corner of it.
